Oakleigh Bespoke Timber Buildings was established by a team of experienced carpenters and oak framed builders who are passionate about working with high quality timber and materials.
Our friendly, experienced team have a flexible approach with a good eye for detail. We have a good knowledge of the building industry as well as timber frame constructions, so can advise on groundworks and foundations if needed and only use local companies who use sustainably sourced timber
Founder and Director, Nick has worked in the building trade for nearly 20 years. He trained as a carpenter in the early nineties before working for a building contractor, then started his own company in 2002.
Nick has worked on a wide range of building projects including; complete new builds, refurbishments, extensions, shop fits and landscaping, yet his over arching passion has been working and building with timber.
With more and more of his clients requiring timber frame constructions, Nick realised that this is what he does best and so Oakleigh Bespoke Timber Framed Buildings was established.
Before Ant started his career in oak framing he was on the Great British Mens Skeleton team, ranked overall 1st in the world in 2007/8 – he also came 7th in the Commonwealth games of 2002!
After this high speed career he went on to pursue his other love, working with green oak. Having trained as an oak framer via an apprenticeship scheme, he gained a Structural Post and Beam qualification and also attended a wood working course at the boat building academy. A keen kite surfer, Ant spends his spare time hitting the waters off our local Devon shores.
Liz Robinson, mother of two Finley and Holly, joined the team in 2006 a year after she met her future husband Nick. She not only works behind the scenes in the office but has also be known to work at the heart of a project on site with the lads too. Liz, who graduated with a degree in Environmental Science, has a keen interest in the environment and sustainability and a passion for timber frame buildings, her ideal home would be a log cabin in the mountains!
Outside of the office she is a keen runner and endurance racer, along with her trusted partner ’Heidi’ the dog, although taking a break from an ankle operation she hopes to soon be back competing.
